Some politics for the Crack pages
A manufactured consensus within the Western media has been erected and fortified so resolutely with regards to the mind-set of reporters and their nomenclature used to describe events within countries considered official enemies of the NATO alliance (specifically Iraq, Iran, and Korea) that even media outlets originally conceived to protect the world's citizens against various forms of propaganda and state-led misinformation are now, themselves, no more than a stage for the world's dominant powers to spread their disinformation to all corners of the earth. Check out this "biography" from Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty to get a handle on what I'm talking about.

Notice that the article refers to al-Majid as being “responsible for brutally suppressing an Iraqi Shi'ite uprising in southern Iraq in 1991.” This, I have no doubt, is not the first time you have heard about the "suppression" of an Iraqi Shi'ite "uprising" in various parts of Iraq. Now, I don't argue the historical accuracy of the article, rather what I want to point out are the linguistic choices made by the western media as a whole when writing or talking about any official enemy states or persons. For example, whereas western media refers to the 1978 coup d’état in Iran, they refer to “uprisings” or “political upheavals” when speaking of Chechnya, Shi’ite and Kurd-populated Iraq, and, more recently, Kosovo and the Baltics. All of these “uprisings” took place while governments unfavourable to the western powers were the focus of aggression, while the term coup d’état is reserved to describe popular uprisings against governments who are “friendly” to the western powers. In the case of the Shi’ite “uprising” in 1991 and al-Majid’s “brutal suppression” thereof, would it not be just as accurate to say that al-Majid “defended” his government against an attempted coup? Do you see the bias?

To be clearer, imagine an attempted overthrow of governmental power in Israel tomorrow – do you think it would be referred to as an uprising or a coup? I’d put my money on the coup. My point is just that it’s fucked up that even so-called “liberal” news sources play the party line and still refuse to give us unbiased and professional news. An interesting thing about all this is that people here in Europe constantly belittle the US news sources like the NY Times and CNN as being nothing more than a stage for the US government’s geo-political figureheads. At this I laugh – do people honestly think that the BBC or Le Monde provides their customers with any more credible and impartial “news”? The fact of the matter is that any news source that doesn’t want to be perceived as a conspiracy theorist’s sounding-board must go with the party line lest they be brushed aside as being either too far left or right. I used to think that it had to do with the fact that most news agencies need to make money, therefore they must print acceptable news for fear of being turned away by the news makers (such as the government or large corporations) – but, hell, even the bloody student newspapers are reading like USA Today now. So now what we have is a consensus – a consensus that has been manufactured by our own news agencies and aggrandized and legitimized by nothing more than the apathy of our own populace.

So, what to do? Organize, communicate, and pay attention to the far left and far right sources of “news” (check out this site for an example of what is referred to as classic “leftist” news) – I think it is only through self-education from non-government sources and intercommunication through organization that our society, that being the world’s society, can grow out of the current world-wide trend of distrust, vengeance, and plain old crack-worthiness that seems to have destroyed the promise of world-peace offered to us by our leaders at the dawn of this century.

By the way, here's a quote from a talking head on CNN Europe (they repeat this quote just about every day in a CNN commercial) - "It's not the content of the news that matters, it's what the audience takes away from it that counts." There is it in black-and-white kids - it's not the fucking truth that matters to our global news agencies, it's their influence on your perception of the truth that concerns them most - if that isn't propaganda in its purest form, then I don't know what is.

Pax.

The King Of Pop (Michael Jackson Disturbs Me)
To be honest, the entire Jackson clan disturbs me. What happened to this guy? Does/Did he not get it? It being some modicum of understanding about life, himself and the nature of the universe. I mean, has been so shielded, deprived or bereft of any sense of normality that he can't see beyond his own retarded view of the world and his delusional self-aggrandisation? What... The... Fuck?

I'm not willing to call this latest episode self-evident in terms of his assumed guilt. Why? 'Coz there are some greedy nutters out there who would want nothing more than to make some money off of Wacko Jacko. The fact that Michael continued to have children over may be indicative of a problem, but I can't help but feel it's more in line with his stupidity.

I'm even willing to take bets even now that this whole thing just goes away. There'll be hullabuloo, and judicial proceedings, but when it's done... NOTHING... save maybe for some spurious out-of-court settlement like the last time, where no guilt is admitted, but parties have to shut up or else.

What there will not be is a 'slow speed chase' a la OJ.

Gawd. MJ must really not have a freakin' clue.

 Wot's The Crack?
Aye... I'm ready to begin my stint as fellow crack-head on this blog. BigUp to 'Tine & Trav for invitin' de I to grace these pages. And so I begin with the question: Wot's the crack? (as in, what's going on? UK slang stylee)

1. I Got A New Job
Yes, I've been hired in the security information management space. No pager, no beeper, no datacenter, work from home-office unless travelling. In the words of the roots reggae chant whose crooner I unfortunately cannot recall: "Jah, yes 'im nevah fail I". Respect.

2. I Owe Everybody
Da Moms, My Friends, Credit Cards, Loans. I'm a be poor for a while, yo...

3. Still Creatively Sound
Determined more than ever to keep the writing up. Recently published (2½ months late mind you) at uber.nu again. Working on my collection of short stories again. Now I just got to get the music in gear and I'll be firing on all cylinders.

4. I Can't Wait To Travel Again
1st year since 1998 I have not gone abroad. So much for the 10th anniversary of my trip to Amsterdam. Sorry Trav. So much for a west-caost swing. Sorry 'Tine. So much for a trip back home to de island. Sorry bro's. Madrid looms large as does De Nederlands & Deutschland. We fixin' dat nex' year fuh sure. We not on kix.

5. Nadas Honeys
Nuff Said. Hopefully we fixin dat nex' year too... Hehehe!

6. All In All, I Am A Happy Soul
I truly am... to complain now is laughable. I've endured what has probably been the toughest test in my life thus far. Long way to go, but I'm back in the game. Thank you all for your kind words and efforts during the trial. Much Love.

Now that I've broken the ice, expect wicked humor, intriguing observations and fabulous fiction to come forth upon TheCrack. Yes... I will bless you like Buddha even unto the 37th Chamber. Peace.
