In a post Clinton-era we knew things would change. Post 9/11 we knew the federal government would clamp down and that we'd be trading freedoms and conveniences for security. We all know that we don't live in a true democracy in that we choose leaders to make the decisions for the people. But in a "democracy" where people are apathetic and uninformed, we're leaving a LOT of power in the hands of a few people. I just saw this headline come accross my Google desktop bar, and HAD to rant. In my days in the Valley I've heard all kinds of euphamisms for people getting canned; layoffs, cutbacks, downsizing, RIFs, etc. But NONE are as misleading or inflamatory as "release".
